Comparing Repairers

Knowing who to turn to when you’ve had an accident can be confusing to say the least. There are a number of factors to consider when deciding where to take your car.

Most times when you’ve had an accident you’ll only be paying the excess and your insurer will pay the rest. Of course your insurance company will want to get the repairs done as cheaply as they can, and whilst they take care to ensure all the damage is repaired, there are always grey areas in determining what needs to be repaired, and what damage was caused by the accident as opposed to other wear and tear. We recommend you consider the following tips

  • Nothing can replace peace of mind; make sure in all your dealings with a repairer that you feel they will not cut corners, and that they take the time to explain to you what repairs they plan to undertake (and what they won’t be including). Make sure they will adhere strictly to any and all manufacturer’s standards and guidlines for safe repair.
  • Can they offer you a loan car for the duration of the repairs?
  • How long will it be before the repairer can start the work?
  • How long will the repair take?
  • Will the repairer use genuine or after market parts, and will this matter. In some cases, after market parts can be superior to the manufacturer’s original equipment.
  • Will the repairer be using new or used parts?
  • Will the repairer be using new parts or panel beating the existing ones?
  • Has the repairer been around for a while (and will they be there if you ever need to go back)?
  • Does the repairer have a good reputation in the industry?
  • Have you had a friend or relative use the repairer?
  • What is the repairer’s policy on rework?
  • Does the repairer have all the necessary tools and equipment to do the job properly?
  • Is the repairer accredited?
  • Does the repairer invest in ongoing training?
  • Is the repairer affiliated with industry bodies?

We appreciate that in most cases you will have a choice of repairer, and would be pleased to discuss your needs or provide a quote for your consideration. Come and talk to Vince and find out about the Dilena Brothers difference.
